Education and Advocacy

LexPride offers several types of trainings to school, municipal, business, and community groups:

  • Understanding LGBTQIA+ (many versions for specific audiences and interests)

  • Introduction to Diversity Awareness

  • Training Active Bystanders

  • Overcoming Unconscious Bias

  • Recruiting for Diversity

To schedule a training, please contact us.

LexPride also works and partners with school, municipal, business, and community groups to implement good inclusivity practices and advance equality for all.

In addition, LexPride organizes and hosts public and private events and initiatives to raise awareness, educate, and entertain.

Please see our calendar page for public events. To help with education and advocacy work, please email us. We welcome suggestions and volunteers!

Rainbow Artists

Rainbow Artists provides LGBTQ+ people and allies with opportunities to explore and express their identities and values in a safe, supportive setting. We offer four groups: ages 8-11, ages 12-15, ages 16-19, and adults (ages 18+).

Groups meet weekly via Zoom. Our facilitator leads the meetings with multidisciplinary expressive arts activities, music, and conversation. We also bring in guests who share their work and journeys as LGBTQIA+ artists. It’s always a joy to see people in various stages of life thriving in their work and lives even while navigating life’s challenges.

These are not therapy groups, but rather opportunities to explore, learn, and gain insight through creative expression with a community of peers. Research shows that this can generate measurable improvements in mental and physical health.

OpenToAll

Open To All is a campaign to build awareness about the importance of nondiscrimination laws—and to defend the principle that when businesses open their doors to the public, they should be Open To All.

LexPride created our local initiative to show that Lexington businesses and community organizations are Open To All. When you sign on, you will receive an Open To All window decal and a graphic to post on your website if you wish. We also offer free trainings for participating organizations and their staff.
